MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO - MELODIAC releases its second album 'A World Full of Wonder' that will turn ears and capture imaginations – available May 1, 2024 (ISRC:612608034907).
The band’s second album "A World Full of Wonder” (AWFOW) is already receiving airplay in the UK and Australia. Producer and keyboard player, Angelo Civiero helps bring out the band's retro rock vibe, paying homage to the alternative artists and bands they grew up listing to, the music counterculture of the 70’s 80’s 90’s and onward.
From first listen, it makes sense that core players; vocalist, bassist, Steve Lundy, and; keyboard player producer Angelo Civiero, are baby Boomers. The band members were influenced by XTC, The Smiths, Genesis, Level 42, Rush, Roxy Music to name a few.
While guitarist Steve Meldrum is a relatively newer band member, he came from the rock band scene having played in 2112 a local Rush tribute band. Drummer Ryan Henry is the band's newbie GenZer. He auditioned for the band while completing his Bachelor's of Music degree at University of Toronto.
Steve Lundy is a multi-instrumentalist, an exceptional bass player, and the primary songwriter for the band. He was the founder of group Frost in June, who released two albums independently in the late 80’s and early nineties. Both were recorded at The Room Recording Studio in Weston. Angelo Civiero came from a musical background having studied accordion and having played keyboards in the bands Second Line and On The Way Out. His production skills were learned from working with various renown producers and recording engineers at Toronto’s legendary Sounds Interchange as an assistant engineer. He later became partner and head engineer at the Room and later, attained his Mastering diploma from Berkley. The band does all manners of production at the Rubber Room, in Mississauga, Ontario.
Melodiac’s debut Album ONE was released in 2021, and was mostly an experimental project, a mix of previously unreleased songs written decades earlier. Tim Forkster writes, “One” is a Brilliant 10-Track Album from ‘Start to Finish’ by These Well-Seasoned Canadian Alt-Rockers, MELODIAC!”
With AWFOW, Melodiac has honed its sound and matured.
Melodiac will spend the coming months promoting the new album and playing select local venues and events in Mississauga, Toronto, and the Greater Toronto area.
